Gabby's research interests revolve around the transition between pre- and post- Roman Italy, including evidence of cultural and political assimilation in archaeological contexts, as well as the development of the archaeological landscape of 1st millennium BCE Italy. Her research focuses on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to reconstruct the ancient landscape and compare these models with historical and archaeological evidence, with particular interest in the Roman suburbium and the development of the Roman road network.
Gabby received her B.A. from UC Berkeley in 2017, with a degree in History with an emphasis on the Ancient Mediterranean. Her thesis focused on historical and archaeological evidence of cultural change in Roman Thrace. In 2018 she completed a post-baccalaureate program in Classics at UC Davis, before completing on to her MA in Classics at the University of Arizona in 2020, now with an emphasis on Classical Archaeology. Finally, she is aiming to complete her PhD in Archaeology at Mizzou. Gabby has previously excavated at Poggio Gramignano in the province of Terni, Umbria, and has been a member of the topography team at the Gabii Project since 2022.
Gabby is currently abroad in Italy on a Fulbright Open Research/Study Grant at the University of Bologna, Ravenna, aiming to complete and defend her dissertation in 2026.
