Pronouns: she/her/hers.
I earned my BA and MA at the University of Florence in Italy (BA 2014 in History and Preservation of Cultural Heritage; MA 2018 in Classical Archaeology), both with honors. Between February 2020 and April 2021, I pursued a Masters in Management of Cultural Heritage at Palazzo Spinelli, a renowned non-profit organization in Florence. This experience gave me the opportunity to do an internship at the Uffizi Galleries in the Department of Antiquities under the supervision of its director, Dr. Fabrizio Paolucci, where I explored first-hand the mechanisms and the functioning of the museum.
During my undergraduate career, my interest was mainly Greek archaeology, especially sculpture, but during the writing of my BA thesis, I realized that my interests were broader and more multifaceted than that. In fact, my dissertation, although focused on Greek culture, encompassed Greek, Roman and Magna Grecian archaeology, the topography of ancient Italy, and the history of collecting. At the time, I was also involved in an excavation at Populonia, Villa di Poggio del Molino, sponsored by the University of Florence in connection with the organization “Archeodig”.
For the MA, I focused more on ancient topography, especially the topography of Rome in my coursework, without losing sight of its “intersectionality” with archaeology. I faced the challenge of writing a thesis on a subject, “Archaeology of Roman Provinces”, that at the time wasn’t taught at the MA level and, hence, did most of my research while teaching myself.
After graduation, I was involved in a project through Zetema-Progetto Cultura for the study of a small group of Roman marble portraits from the Sala degli Imperatori at Palazzo Nuovo in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. My contribution will soon be published in the third volume of the catalogue of the sculptures at Palazzo Nuovo.
My main interests range from Roman topography to sculpture, especially Imperial portraits. Currently, I would very much like to focus on combining Archaeology with Women and Gender studies.
